Fantasy Football

For the last several years I've been playing fantasy football. It all came about because of a remark my son made to me. He was telling me about the fantasy football team he had just drafted, and he was very enthusiastic and pumped about it. Without really thinking about it, I told him I thought I would play fantasy football too. Well, you would have thought I had made a huge joke, because he started laughing and said, "don't be ridiculous! you don't know anything about football!" I said, "so you don't think I can play?" and he replied, "of course not!" Well, that's all it took. Even though I hadn't been serious about playing before, I was now VERY serious! I wasn't going to let Van laugh at me, so I drafted a team and then another. That first year I learned a lot. In fact, more and more I found myself watching ESPN, SportsCenter and the NFL network. I didn't win any trophies that first year, but I finished in the top half of my leagues. It wasn't long until I was able to talk football with Van just as well if not better than a lot of his friends. Now, several years since I played that first year I'm still playing, but now I'm winning those cyber trophies. This year I have 6 teams and I've made it to the finals in 4 of them. Van has 4 teams and he has made it to the finals in 2 of them, except he plays in money leagues so he gets more than a cyber trophy. But I'm satisfied with my cyber trophies and I'm especially happy that I've earned Van's respect and admiration.
